PATRICK BOYLE was born in Donegal Ireland in 1828. His father was DANIEL BOYLE and his mother ANN GALLAGHER. He married MARGARET McCLINTOCK in Ireland in 1848. They set sail for Australia in 1857, with their two young daughters, on the ship POMONA.

Margaret died in  1862, and Patrick married MARIA CHUTE in 1866. Maria’s brother RICHARD married Patrick’s daughter ELLEN in 1869. Tragically, Ellen was murdered by her husband in November 1871. The story of her murder which was big news at the time can be seen  here

PATRICK BOYLE, farmer, died in Violet Town in 1891. Family folklore passed down through generations says that his wake continued for days, closing down businesses in Violet Town.

PATRICK BOYLE is bured in Violet Town in a family plot, with a large monument. Buried with him is his first wife Margaret, his second wife Maria, and his daughter, Ellen.
