William Calnan is my Great Great Grandfather. He was born in Kilkenny, Ireland in 1828. Unfortunately I know very little of his early life,  or his arrival to Australia in 1840. William married Ellen Boyle in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1849. William was a farmer, just outside Violet Town. He and Ellen had  12 children.

William died from asthma, at Violet Town in 1883, and is buried at Violet Town cemetary in an unmarked grave
