A-Z Challenge: X for aXe Creek

April 28, 2016

I am back again for the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge so have made the commitment to blog every day in April except the Sundays. Some bloggers choose a theme, and others do random posts. For me, a theme works better, so them I’ve chosen for 2016 is Towns in Victoria. I will be choosing  towns with a relevance to my family history, where possible.

X is for aXe Creek. So sorry, but that is the best I can do with the letter X as there is no town in Victoria beginning with X. So Axe Creek it is.

Axe Creek isn’t a town, it’s a location, about 20kms from Bendigo. Axe Creek is named after the creek that is close by.

Axe Creek is surrounded by National Park and much of it, including privately owned land, is protected by Trust for Nature. This is to ensure the bushland, birds and animasl are not threatened.

There are no amenities or shops at Axe Creek. Other than the church, there is only the Axe Creek  Primary School.

The area of Axe Creek has, in recent years become a popular area to live on large acreages, as it is close to the school and quite close to Bendigo.
