National Siblings Day 2016

April 11, 2016

April 10 is National Siblings Day in USA. Just because we are so far away in the northern hemisphere, is no reason why we can’t celebrate. I’ve seen some geni friends today, post photos of their siblings. My first thought was to find a photo of myself with my two sisters….until I realised that I don’t have a photo of the three of us.

As a self respecting genealogist that was a shock, horror moment for me! Mum gave me a batch of family photos recently but there wasn’t a photo of us siblings amongst them. I will have to recheck with her, in case there are any she forgot to give me. As adults, it’s been impossible to get photos taken of the three of us together, as it’s very rare that the three of us are together. Usually there is one missing.

So instead of my siblings, here are the siblings that I gave birth to many years ago:

And here are the siblings that are my grandsons:

Can you pick the Dad of these boys? Yes, he’s the oldest in the middle. I’d never really noticed a likeness to him before.

  1. Isn’t it interesting how bits of the gene pool come out in each generation….the wonders of DNA. Surprising to have none of you as children together.
