April A-Z Challenge: U is for Uzmaston

April 26, 2015

UU is for UZMASTON in Pembrokeshire, Wales. My Great Great Grandfather, JOHN TAYLOR, was born at Old Oven, Uzmaston in February 1814. His parents were JOHN TAYLOR and MARY DAVIES.

Uzmaston is a small parish, only about two miles from central Haverfordwest.

Old Oven was a small farm in Uzmaston parish, of approximately 40 acres. Today, it is a derelict piece of land, formerly part of Uzmaston Farm. Mostly Old Oven is not marked on today’s maps.  The original cottage still stands, derelict and without a roof.
