April A-Z Challenge – V is for Violet Town
V is for VIOLET TOWN, Victoria, Australia. In the early days of settlement, Victoria was the coach stop on the road between Melbourne and Sydney. The Post Office was opened in 1852 and closed in 1859.
Violet Town is situated on the Honeysuckle Creek and most streets are named after flowers. My ancestor Patrick Boyle had a farm on the Honeysuckle Creek
My Grandfather William Jones was born in Violet Town, as were many of my ancestors. Family names of direct ancestors from Violet Town are JONES, BOYLE, CALNAN and WATERS
This is such a good blog that I am happy to now be following.
