April A-Z Challenge – M is for McPherson

April 16, 2015

M

M is for McPHERSON ANNE, born December 1847 in Glenelg, Ross-Shire, Scotland. Ann was my Great Great Grandmother. Anne and my Great Great Grandfather, FARQUHAR MORRISON, married in April 1866 at Church of England, Heathcote, Victoria.

There was a large age difference between Anne and Farquhar, of 27 years. As Anne lived in the same town in Scotland as the Morrison family, it appears there could have been an arrangement for them to marry. Anne arrived in Australia , after Farquhar, and lived at Wild Duck Creek, just outside Heathcote.

Anne died, 20 years after her husband, in 1916, at Nish Street, Echuca, where she spent her last years, to be closer to her sons.

Anne’s parents were ALEXANDER McPHERSON and MARY McDONALD.They were married in Sleat, Inverness, Scotland in 1845. They had 6 children.
