Week 15: 52 Weeks of Abundant Genealogy
Amy Coffin of The We Tree Genealogy Blog in conjunction with GeneaBloggers has called for bloggers of genealogy and family history to take on the 2012 challenge of 52 Weeks of Abundant Genealogy This weeks topic is Volunteers. Tell us about a volunteer you appreciate. What does this person do for the genealogical community? How has he or she touched your heart? This is your chance to show some love for those who selfishly give their time to family history.
I’m not going to name anyone in particular but I fully appreciate the volunteers who are involved in indexing projects. Not sure where we would be in our genealogy research without them. We have access to so many records now, both on CD and online due to the wonderful work done by these generouse pople. Genealogy volunteers take on huge projects and just keep plugging away at them until they’re finished. They definitely are a tireless bunch.
At the moment I’m not able to be involved, due to work commitments. But in the future when I retire, or at least cut down on my hours, I plan to get involved with an indexing project, in the hope that I can repay some of the work that I’ve benefited from over the years.
