Week 12: 52 Weeks of Abundant Genealogy
Amy Coffin of The We Tree Genealogy Blog in conjunction with GeneaBloggers has called for bloggers of genealogy and family history to take on the 2012 challenge of 52 Weeks of Abundant Genealogy This week’s topic is Podcasts. Podcasts make it easy to learn about genealogy on the go. Which podcast is your favourite? Who hosts it and how has that person, pair or group helped your family history research?
Podcasts are a great way of keeping up with the latest genealogy news and information. There are many podcasts which I’d love to listen in to regularly, however time constraints at the moment prevent me from doing so.
But I do keep up with podcasts produced by The Genealogical Society of Victoria. They have a series of Thursday talks at lunch time on Thursdays, which go for about an hour. These are informal talks and always with an interesting guest speaker. These days I’m unable to get into the city on Thursdays, so catch up with them by podcast. This is a fantastic service for country members, helping us to feel a little less isolated.
I wasn’t aware that the Genealogical Society of Victoria had a podcast. Thanks for the tip!
Amy they don’t podcast the Thursday talk every week. It depends on who the guest speaker is.
