Waters children

February 11, 2012

Last weekend I visited my two great aunts, EVA and HILDA WATERS.  Hilda is age 87 and her sister,  Eva will turn 99 this year. They gave me this photo which I hadn’t seen before, and which I will treasure.

On the left is their brother BERNARD WATERS, sitting next to him is his sister, my grandmother LEOLA WATERS, then brother VERNON ALEXANDER WATERS. On the end is their sister BLANCHE WATERS, nursing

baby, EVA . Hilda is not  in the photo, as it was taken before her birth.  It’s probable that the photo was taken in Rochester, maybe on the family farm.  By the way the children are dressed, I would guess it was a special occasion.

The children in this family were born over a period of 22 years. Eva was born in 1913, so my guess is that the photo was taken about 1914.

At the moment, I am having fun  researching and writing about the stories of the lives of these children

Such a lovely photograph. They have such amazing eyes. Life was so much harder in those days but enloyment was found in the simple joys, like an outing for the day. Especially love how the young lad has the doll on his lap. Bless…

    • You’re so right about it being a simpler and happier life back then Peter. I also love that Alex has his doll. And why shouldn’t he I say!
