My Research Interests
Following are my research interests on my father’s side of the family. Most of these families had very large families, so I hope it all makes sense to anyone reading this.
TAYLOR – JOHN TAYLOR and MARY DAVIES married in 1804 in Slebech, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Their son, JOHN TAYLOR married MARTHA LLOYD in 1839 in the Parish of St. Thomas, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales. They arrived in Australia in January 1841 with their two small children, JAMES LLOYD, age 15 months, and JOHN LLOYD, age 4 months. They settled in Diamond Creek/Whittlesea area and added to their family – WILLIAM LLOYD b 1842, MARY b 1844, ANN b 1846, THOMAS LLOYD b 1848, CHARLES LLOYD b 1850, GEORGE LLOYD b. 1851, HENRY LLOYD b 1853, ALICE b 1856, ELLEN b 1857 and ARTHUR b 1859.
My Great Grandfather is their son, WILLIAM LLOYD.
MCQUEEN – THOMAS JAMES JONATHON arrived in Launceston from Jamaica and married JANET YOUNG from Glasgow in 1844. After the birth of ALEXANDER in 1844 and SARAH ANNIE in 1854, they moved to Collingwood, Victoria, where they went on to have more children: THOMAS AULD b 1848, WILLIAM b 1851, JANET b 1853, JOHN AULD b 1856, ROBERT KIDDIE b 1858, EMILY B 1862,
Their daughter JANET married WILLIAM LLOYD TAYLOR and is my Great Grandmother
JONES -THOMAS JONES was born in London about 1808 and died in Sydney in 1871. Little is known of him yet, other than that he spent time in Hobart before moving to Sydney. His first son ROBERT JAMES was born in London in 1831. His second son JOSEPH HENRY was born at Green Ponds, Hobart and married ELLEN VIRGINIA LOWE in Hobart in 1855. Eventually they settled in Victoria. Their children are THOMAS JAMES b 1856, JOSEPH HENRY b 1857, CORNELIUS b 1859, CATHERINE VIRGINIA b 1862, ELLEN ANNIE b 1864, WILLIAM LOWE b 1870, AVONIA b 1871
Their son CORNELIUS JONES is my Great Grandfather
CORNELIUS JONES married MARY CALNAN in Benalla in 1884. Their children are WILLIAM LOWE b 1886, ELLEN b 1888 and PHOEBIE SOPHIA born in 1889.
Their son WILLIAM LOWE JONES married EMILY TAYLOR in 1910. They are my grandparents.
